Malick Sidibé was born in Soloba, a Fulani village in Mali and is world-famous for his black-and-white photography of popular culture in the 1960s ans 1970s in Bamako, the capital of Mali.
His photographs are a fantastic chronicle of the unrestrained optimism and joie de vivre of the Malian youth in Bamako after independence.
